Hi Eliška, can you briefly introduce yourself?
Hello, I am Eliška, I am 19 years old and I was born in the Czech Republic. I graduated from Economic High School last May. I like electronic music, especially drum and bass. I like partying and doing sports. I can speak English and Russian (kind of). I am volunteering in Narva from September 2022 until August 2023 :)
Why did you choose to become a volunteer this year?
I stayed in Narva and worked at Vitatiim for three weeks in September 2021 thanks to an Erasmus project in my High school. I was totally amazed by the people and energy in Narva, especially in Vitatiim. I was sure that I wanted to come back after finishing my high school and it really happened. I was waiting for my coming back to Narva the rest of my year in Czechia and now I am sitting here in Vitatiim, writing these answers and celebrating my 4 months in Narva today! I am really happy that I am here.
In which organization are you volunteering and can you explain what you are doing exactly?
I volunteer in Vitatiim with Mélina and Mert. We work mostly together, organize community evenings - for example Welcoming party with volunteers or Christmas Community Evening. We also hold an English Conversational Club for youngsters and adults in Narva to improve their english. We are visiting schools in Narva to talk about our countries, Erasmus and European Solidarity Corps.
Other than that, I help with what is needed. I made a website for a cross-disciplinary project, I participated in a media project in Tartu and I helped with organizing one Anti-Bullying workshop for international students. I also help my tutor (Beata) with everything she needs.
What would you like to achieve until the end of your volunteering?
I think that my biggest goal is to be the best version of myself. Keep going to the gym, yoga, and zumba. I really want to improve my Russian language skills and speak Russian as good as English.
In Vitatiim, I would like to be here for everyone who needs help and organize more nice events and workshops.
Lastly, I would really like to travel, cook good meals, and just enjoy my time here and come back with good memories.
Finally, what is your best memory here?
I think my whole stay here is just one big good memory, but if I should think about just one memory, the first that came to my mind was visiting a SPA in Narva-Jõesuu in December with other volunteers and mentors, where I was so relaxed and so happy.
